Hershal Pollard is the owner of Montlake, just up on the Cumberland plateau from Soddy Daisy. He also has offered the lake site as a potential site for a Sierra Club meeting or outing. I visited the lake for the first time two weeks ago and it is a true marvel. I'm not sure if you know about Montlake, but it's one of the only natural lakes in this part of Tennessee. It's relatively small (2 acres) and was formed when the sandstone cap to the plateau collapsed into a cavern/cave several million years ago. There is one stream that drains into it and all of that water either seeps out or evaporates away. Essentially it has sheer rock cliffs lining it. Rardy Spratt
