Protect Land by Joining
Tennessee River Gorge Trust (TRGT) for
‘A Gorgeous Evening’
Thursday June 18, 5pm - sunset
The Tennessee River Gorge Trust will host 'A Gorgeous Evening' at the beautiful Caldwell Family Property on Thursday, June 18. The property is located just 10 minutes from downtown Chattanooga off of Highway 41.
Guests will enjoy butterflies, breezes and BBQ in the heart of the Gorge, while also contributing to the protection of the "Gateway to the Gorge." The "Gateway" campaign is helping the Trust raise funds to protect a piece of property that is owned by the Stolpmann family. This property is being protected through a conservation easement, a tool that allows the Trust to purchase the development rights so that the property will be protected in perpetuity. The Stolpmann property lies in Chattanooga, directly across from Williams Island, and harbors vast wildlife and some of the most pristine forest habitat in the Gorge, as well as historic remnant entrenchments from the Civil War "Siege of Chattanooga." The Trust has raised 70% of the monies needed to complete the deal, but still needs to raise $373,000 by June 2010.
'A Gorgeous Evening' will begin at 5:00 p.m. and end by sunset. The evening will include a surprise announcement that you won't want to miss, scrumptious appetizers by 212 Market, beer, wine and a specialty drink, BBQ provided by Bones Smokehouse, ice cream by Ben & Jerry's, music courtesy of Fletcher Bright and the Dismembered Tennesseans, tours of Cummings Lake provided by Duffy Electric Boats, River Garden Butterfly Pavilion Tours, a "hole in one" golf contest, fishing on the Tennessee River or in Cummings Lake (bring your own fishing gear), and strolls along the beautiful river gardens.
$100 per person or $150 per couple. All proceeds from 'A Gorgeous Evening' will benefit the Trust's land preservation efforts.
